PEACOCK

Red Lionfish (Pterois miles), Red Sea, Egypt 🇫🇷 Tranquillement posée en haut d'un petit pinacle corallien, parmi plusieurs de ses congénères, cette rascasse volante n'a pas bronché devant l'objectif de mon appareil et m'a laissé prendre en photo les superbes appendices foliacés dressés au-dessus des yeux. BLU-RAY

Blue-spotted ribbontail ray (Taeniura lymma), Red Sea, Egypt 🇫🇷 Sur cette photo, on voit clairement le ‘spiracle’ de la raie pastenague à points bleus : cet évent, situé en arrière de l’oeil, communique avec la bouche et permet à la raie d’absorber de l'eau riche en oxygène qui sera ensuite expirée via les fentes branchiales sur la face ventrale. De cette façon, la raie peut respirer sans absorber du sable. 🇬🇧 On this shot, we can clearly see the ‘spiracle’ of the blue-spotted ribbontail ray: this blowhole, located behind the eye, communicates with the mouth and allows the ray to absorb water rich in oxygen which will then be exhaled via the gill slits on the ventral side. NOCTURNAL FLAMENCO

Spanish Dancer (Hexabranchus sanguineus), Red Sea, Egypt 🇫🇷 La danseuse espagnole est l'un des plus grands nudibranches de la zone indo-pacifique. Son nom provient du mouvement que fait son manteau lorsqu'il nage en pleine eau, mouvement ondulatoire qui n'est pas sans rappeler les robes de danseuses espagnoles de flamenco 💃🏻. Cachée pendant la journée dans les anfractuosités du récif, la danseuse espagnole sort après le coucher du soleil. 🇬🇧 The Spanish dancer is one of the largest nudibranchs in the Indo-Pacific. Its name comes from the movement that the mantle makes when it swims in open water, an undulating movement that recalls the dresses of Spanish flamenco dancers 💃🏻. WATERY GRAVE

SS Thistlegorm wreck, Red Sea, Egypt 🇫🇷 Le SS Thistlegorm était un cargo à vapeur britannique, construit en Angleterre en 1940, et coulé par des bombardiers allemands en mer Rouge en 1941. Son épave près du Parc National de Ras Mohammed est l'un des sites de plongée les plus importants et les plus populaires du nord de la mer Rouge. Le Thistlegorm transportait un grand nombre de motos, parmi lesquelles des BSA W-M20 et des Norton 16H. Les Norton du niveau inférieur de la cale n°2 sont chargés sur des camions de transport Fordson WOT. Le parfait agencement des motos et l'état impeccable des pneumatiques font toujours une très forte impression sur les plongeurs, les faisant remonter plus de 80 ans dans le passé. 🇬🇧 SS Thistlegorm was a British cargo steamship built in England in 1940 and sunk by German bomber aircraft in the Red Sea in 1941.
